Part two...

6/ « Rose's Cute rate warehouse » was found by Kalai-pahoa in the forum. The discovery was documented by RC too.

https://ibb.co/Mh7cCTX
https://ibb.co/kSbj400
https://ibb.co/zm0fbgN
https://ibb.co/SyjPn8F

crossroad of Iwilei and Kuwili roads.

https://ibb.co/gzgC28G

This warehouse was built in 1932, accordingly to RC.As if Rose's business returned on the straight virtute path, The building is used today by … The Salvation Army as a store and a depositiry !

https://ibb.co/qmSHmS7

Since the show, the loading entrance and exit changed. The dockport was removed in one and the last was simply deleted.

7/ Mrs Chase house

I jumped in 'head first' for this one and was proud to have found it before realising... of course, that people more talented than me had been there before!

https://ibb.co/XX4RCbm
https://ibb.co/0Fhqh1v
https://ibb.co/ydsfw6n

Accordingly to RC, the 4910 Kahala avenue House (colonial style ?) was built in 1967 and was demolished as early as... 1991.

This home is only … 100 yards from the King Kamehameha Club Beach bar !!

https://ibb.co/W5vHZ81

Very surprising that this house was so easily accessible from the Wai-alae canal... But what is the security doing?

8/ Rose's black Limo final destination

And this is my little easter egg.

At the end of the story, Tracy, using only her courage, drives Rose's big limousine off the road (with her little VW?). The latter will finish its race in a tree below the road.

https://ibb.co/YP2p9f7
https://ibb.co/SxBtdTb

What seems to be a military depot area in the background is the first hint.

https://ibb.co/hDXjS10

The scene could not be shot in the dense residential area of Kahala. Moreover, it was necessary to find a sufficient slope to 'create' the accident.

I was able to find this 'obscure location' thanks to the HD version on blu-ray which gives more in depth details. Unfortuately i am only able to show DVD's captions here.

Others hints : two distinctive storey builidings in the background ; a long covered place and a white warehouse with distinctive ventilation towers (three can be clearly seen in the HD version).

https://ibb.co/4TfFNKs
https://ibb.co/R4YhHHy

The scene was filmed on Diamond Head road, very close to Hawaii Army National Guards recruiting facilities.

https://ibb.co/SBPw7Zd

https://ibb.co/XYR5BxJ

https://ibb.co/bvHBcv0

The slope is roughly 10 feet here. the area was more wooded. As many trees seem to have been cut down. I can only make a guess for the exact location.

For those who are interested in this topic, I thank you for reading me... Until the end ! :? :) :magnum:

I'm curious if the soundstage where Magnum and of course, the original Five-O was filmed still stands and if it does, are they available to visitors? It would be cool to visit it someday.

It’s still there, by the university at Manoa, but it has been expanded and remodeled since the H5O and MPI years. I have no idea about tours though.

Edit:
Here’s some more information.

Hi everyone, nice to be here again !

I've consulted my archives.

Unfortunately, I was unable to identify the reception room and the corresponding hotel.

In the title sequence, the hotels on Kaimana beach are zoomed in.

This is not relevant with the sequence shot of the fashion show, in which the waterfront is seen through the windows, with Diamond Head in the background, which is not consistent with a shot from Kaimana.

However, the only area from which the angle could correspond would be the Sheraton area on Waikiki.

My hypothesis is that the two sequences were filmed in the same place for reasons of convenience.

You can see that the title sequence shot with Kaimana Beach taken from the beach in front of the Sheraton corresponds to this shot.

But that's just a possibility. I can't prove it.

I will try to get back on the board from time to time, if i can save on my working duties. :magnum:

There is a guy on the Magnum PI Facebook page that posted pictures from 1982 when he snuck into the soundstage at 2:00 a.m. and took pictures of himself in the guest house, main house staircase and the Ferrari. Awesome period pictures...

THanks Pahonu : still a pleasure, friend !

However I can't help noticing that all my image links to IMgBB are currently non-operational... Technical problem or account time/capacity exceeded? I'll let a few days go by to figure it out...

In any case, I can only post a few images for a limited time.

Using the links provided by 308GUY, I've rediscovered the location, as it stands today, from which the 1982 photo of the film studio was taken.

https://ibb.co/TwqR7g1

https://ibb.co/LvKND9B
https://ibb.co/SJQrJb8
https://ibb.co/J5J0cZ2

I'm really dismayed because if I can no longer use IMdBB, all my links on these pages are lost... Fortunately I still have the images on my HD.

If that's the case, I'll have to reassemble a database from another site... I don't like having to pay $140 for a professional account...

Another solution would be to compile everything in a PDF document to make an archive and start again with a site like IMdBB, but for a limited time...

Unless someone else has an idea? :? :? :?

Very odd. Most of the links are broken but a very few number are still working... Lot of format id error on the ImgBB site pictures wallet... Seems the website is upside down...

Will wait some days

I just clicked on several of the links from your posts going back to November 2020 and they all worked. I tried about a dozen in four different posts.

Thanks for the checking and the ...relief ! It seems that the flaw is somehow linked to my VPN or firewall. I will check tomorrow from my office !

It is working now from my PC. Imgbb wallet was somehow unreachable for 36 hours and is recovering. Maybe the issue is linked to the limited capacity of the free hosting servers.

It works now from my PC, besides slowed down.

Thanks again Pahonu ! :magnum:
