Re: in which episodes does Magnum cry?
Thanks for that list. I remember most of those. Specially in Unfinished Business. I liked how it was framed as a letter he was writing to his (or so he thought) dead daughter.

Yeah, I was surprised that he was older than he looked too.

Re: Mac's Back (5.3)
So Jeff McKay played three roles in MPI...Ski the Marine gate guard, Mac, and Jim. Gillian Dobb also played two characters during the series run...was there any other recurring actors that played multiple characters? I guess Kathleen Lloyd as Carol Baldwin and the woman trying to get her late fathe...

Re: Is the Magnum legacy in danger due to reboot?
Yeah, agree on the Spenser reboot. There were some funny bits in it, but overall, it is something we've seen over and over many times before, and definitely not Urich's Spenser. So now I'm thinking about other more obscure shows from the 80s that fit this mold. A big one that comes to mind is Sting...

Re: Is the Magnum legacy in danger due to reboot?
That is absolutely correct, Edward Woodward will always be The Equalizer. Loved the show so I bought the DVD, even if some of the original music was replaced.Magnum4eva wrote: ↑Tue Jan 10, 2023 7:45 pm Just like no matter how plays The Equalizer Edward Woodward will always be the first and the best to do it.

Re: Is the Magnum legacy in danger due to reboot?
Just like the FIVE-O reboot which actually ran for 10 seasons but is pretty much forgotten now (not that people talked about it when it was on). Now, if Jay Hernandez becomes some kind of a break-out star (a la Will Smith or something) and embarks on a major movie career then maybe his version of M...

Re: Is the Magnum legacy in danger due to reboot?
I don't think Magnum PI will ever be surpassed by the original. I'm in the thought that although the reboot has the same named characters and setting, it's a different show. There is a different feel to it, but they tried to replicate in in the first season.

Re: Mac's Back (5.3)
I enjoyed this one just for the fact that I go to see Jeff MacKay and Lance LeGault back in MPI. One of the aspects that I always liked was the implication of the supernatural in the show once in a while. Wasn't this one of the few times there was a continuity in the show. Almost feels like a three ...

You guys are right. It was better when they had a purpose to find his son and deal with the Black Dragons. I have to look for The Exile. Never heard of it. Thanks for that.

Re: Season 1 General Discussion
I liked how the Magnum/Higgins dynamic evolved from the beginning to the end of the series. I liked the later seasons when Higgins was more helpful to Magnum.
