Re: Pilot to Ep2 Ratings and Beyond
I'm very much in the dark with how ratings are tabulated nowadays, and I apologize if this has been addressed elsewhere, but are Nielsen ratings important anymore? Since everything is digital (cable, satellite, Internet), can't the numbers be tabulated in total rather than based on select places wit...

Re: Season 1 Episode 6: Death Is Only Temporary (1.6)
I liked this episode the most of all that we've got yet. And the flow of the episode was paced slower, which i really liked. I just still hope that they would change that playful background music from the Hawaii Five-0 style. As well, as make Rick and T.C. more involved in the cases. As much as i l...

Re: Diversity
Just came across this piece on Robert E. Lee, written by Stanley McChrystal, a retired general from the South. It's an excerpt of a new book called Leaders: Myth and Reality . https://www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archive/2018/10/why-i-threw-away-my-portrait-robert-e-lee/573631/?utm_term=2018-10-23T13%3...

Re: Season 1 Episode 4: Six Paintings, One Frame (1.4)
Bad: the Bond opening. The building climbing and entry was straight out of Diamonds are Forever, and the unzipping the suit into the tux was straight out of Goldfinger. Remember how the original script for Magnum had him being a Bond-like character and Selleck nixed that? Seems like Lenkov doesn't....

Re: Season 1 Episode 3: The Woman Who Never Died (1.3)
The short shorts went out of style in the 90s and they haven't really come back since. They are now shorter than in the 90s, though. It's interesting that Jay Hernandez's Magnum is the boyish one. I think his actual age is older than Tom Selleck's when he started the role. I don't know... they've bo...

Re: Season 1 Episode 3: The Woman Who Never Died (1.3)
But that wasn't intended as a barb when I suggested not watching a show that makes you feel sad. I mean it... we should all spend our precious time with things we like whenever we can. The offending comment to everyone was "Though if you think the show will be canceled soon, I suppose your level of...

Not her fault but Higgins comes across unkempt to me, quite the opposite of our Higgins. Maybe that's intentional... Magnum shaves & oils his chest now and Higgins is the slob? I didn't think she was a slob at all. What specifically made you think this? I actually said she appears unkempt, and the ...

Re: Season 1 Episode 2: From The Head Down (1.2)
I love Folks , too. And Quigley . Actually, the goofy and silly TS is really great... his absence is one of the bummers about Blue Bloods. Gravitas is all well and good, but the charm comes from the silly side. Couldn't agree more. My text tone is TM/TS's high-pitched silly laugh, and that was the ...

That does seem big. How does it compare to other recent shows that started off in a similar viewership range?

Re: Diversity
Grant was from Ohio, Lee was from Virginia. Lee supported/led the side that he was from. I doubt someone from the South would fight on the Union side, and certainly not lead them. I'm sure he felt he was fighting on the right side and for him his cause was a just cause. We're looking at this throug...

"Folks" is one of my favorites...but you know what they say...."There's no accounting for taste".... And her I thought I was the only one that liked Folks and have kept that fact as my dirty little secret. Truth be told, I like it because it had Tom Selleck of course, was shot here in Chicago...

Re: Diversity
Characterizing people's concerns over the honoring of Confederate soldiers as "throwing a temper tantrum" is disingenuous. Is it childish to hold the belief that other aspects of our history are more deserving of celebration? As has been stated above, the history doesn't go away if the statue comes...

Re: Diversity
No, I see your larger point, it's like the Founding Fathers, people like Washington and Jefferson. They owned slaves and there was the whole Sally Hemmings thing with Jefferson, so some people even question honoring them. I think we need to recognize that times were different, that people have alwa...

Re: Diversity
Hi Reef Monkey. Thanks for the thoughtful reply. I don't claim to be the world's foremost historian, and I'm not here to argue. I think my point is true; maybe I chose a bad example, but the Civil War monument topplings I see have nothing to do with restoring history. Either way, I trust that you k...
