Re: I Do? (3.17)

Really surprised at this one's rating (8.0), definitely one of the weaker episodes of not only Season 3 but the entire series IMO.

Re: Basket Case (3.15)

I gave this one 7.5, but that's really pushing it to be honest. The only thing more unrealistic than Higgins and Magnum replacing the antiques with replicas is the fact that we are supposed to believe that a 13yo kid (who obviously doesn't go to school often) is almost as well versed in antiques as ...

Re: Did You See the Sunrise? (2) (3.2)

Rating (parts 1 and 2): 10.

Great story, writing, acting (Mosley is brilliant) and great job creating a real sense of doom throughout these episodes. They sure don't make TV like this anymore.

Re: Three Minus Two (2.22)

Average effort for me and it's only really memorable for the "snorkel girl" credit shot. The overall plot is fairly weak and I wasn't convinced by the outcome. Easy to see why it was held back until the end of the season for airing.

Not a great episode but one of Hillerman's best performances of the entire series.

Re: Double Jeopardy (2.19)

Rating: 6.0 This has always been one of my least favourites of the entire series and after having just watched it again, nothing has changed. There is a whopping 20-25 minute drag where nothing happens, the acting in this one (even from Manetti and Mosley) seems forced and sub-par and (as previously...

G'day Harold Farber, and welcome to MM. Stumbling onto this site was the single best thing you could ever do to make watching MPI more "fun". It will make it many other things as well, but the experience will never be the same again! You will spend many hours perusing the entire site, then when you...

Re: Novel Recommendations

Hi there,

Lawrence Block's Bernie Rhodenbarr series (late 70's - present day) is fantastic also (for the most part). Very much light reading but BR is a very entertaining Magnum-esque character/protagonist.

Re: How old is the average Magnum Maniac?

35 and until the release of the DVD's, I only remembered the show from my childhood when my folks would watch it. Revisiting as an adult for the first time was mind-blowing and heart-warming all at once, why don't they make shows like this anymore??? Anyway, I go through the entire series every year...
