Notes
1 Nancy DeCarl (Claudia Randolph) is Larry Manetti's wife (still married). They met several years prior to this episode. Nancy made some memorable appearances in Battlestar Galactica ("The Long Patrol", 1978) and Buck Rogers ("The Plot to Kill a City", 1979) where she played a leather clad mind-reading villainess. Nancy will briefly appear in Season Five's "The Legacy of Garwood Huddle" (5.4) as a TV news reporter.

2 Lady Ashley (Olga Marr) is seen for the first time (at the very end). She will later be played by Carolyn Seymour (who is much taller and thinner than Olga Marr) in Season Five's "Echoes of the Mind" (5.1 & 5.2). Higgins refers to her as "Penelope", but in "Echoes of the Mind" she is addressed as "Elizabeth". "Decades ago", Higgins and Lady Ashley were engaged to be married. Higgins once told Magnum that she was "built like the Prince Albert Memorial"!

3 This episode includes a harrowing car chase with Magnum and Higgins out in front in the Ferrari and an unidentified gunman behind in a Porsche 928. Magnum eludes the gunman with a remarkable u-turn at high speed in front of a moving panel truck! An interesting ground level shot of this amazing u-turn stunt appears during the end credits. There is also a car chase involving Magnum (and the Ferrari) and a 1977 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme. (Noted by J.G. & rubber chicken)

4 In a rare "tracking shot", a car is seen exiting the Robin's Nest property and briefly driving south on Kalanianaole Highway.

5 Magnum mentions the "old club" that Rick used to own, Rick's Cafe Americain (aka the "Snow Palace"!).

6 The historic Clarence H. Cooke House, later known as the Marks Estate, in the Nuuanu Valley is used for a King Kamehameha Club "driveway scene". Parts of the estate grounds can be seen in the background. This location is usually only used for quick establishing shots of the club.

7 Higgins is seen smoking cigarettes again. This is the second and final episode of the series that we see him smoke a cigarette.

8 T.C. is seen wearing a hawaiian shirt, a rare sight for him!

9 Higgins and Magnum briefly mention another private investigator on the islands named Charlie Doyle. Higgins says he is a "...sleazy moe who tries passing himself off as a private investigator." Magnum says, "Charlie's o.k., he just gets himself into weird situations, that's all."

10 The car that tried to run Magnum down and was then chased by Magnum 11 The outdoor meeting between Magnum and James Randolph takes place at the famous Hyatt Regency Waikiki Beach Resort and Spa in Waikiki. This hotel was previously used in Season One's "Thicker than Blood" (1.12). (Noted by rubber chicken)

12 Rick decks Magnum when he learns that Magnum was hired as a P.I. by the husband of his lover! Even though Magnum tells Rick that he quit the case after learning of Rick's involvement, Rick still decks him. Rick tries to hit Magnum a second time, but Magnum doesn't let him. Rick will slug Magnum again in "Distant Relative" (4.4). In either case, Magnum never returns a punch on Rick.

13 Magnum is seen driving the Ferrari with the roof on, something that only happens a handful of times in the show.

14 Kengi, the Robin's Nest workman, is briefly seen on the lawn of the estate. He's also seen in "No Need to Know" (1.5), "Echoes of the Mind (2)" (5.2), "Blind Justice" (5.7), "Little Games" (5.12), "Professor Jonathan Higgins" (5.13), "All For One (2)" (5.16), & "Ms. Jones" (5.19).
Quotes
1
Higgins: I say, did someone die?
Magnum: What?
Higgins: You're almost wearing a suit. I should think the only occasion for which you would do that would be a funeral.

2
Higgins: The last time I saw Penelope, I was considerably ... different looking.
Magnum: Well, so was she. You're probably not the only one who got fat.

3
Magnum: Normally, the chance to make Higgins sweat would have seemed like a lot of fun. Today, it barely raised a smile.

4
(To Magnum)
T.C.: What's with this ethical madness?

5
(To Magnum)
Rick: This is a private club! Unless you've got membership money pal I suggest you leave, and leave now!
Flubs
1 After Higgins struggles to the KKC "beach bar" (after running on the beach), he begins recounting one of his military tales to T.C. and Rick. During his tale, a lady in a black bikini passes behind him going left to right (heading to the beach)... twice in very short succession! Also, just after she passes (both times), another lady holding a towel passes right to left (heading to the club), also twice in a row! (Noted by Jim Salyers)

2 When Magnum and Higgins are being chased by the guys in the Porsche 928, just before Higgins says, "bloody rotten luck", Hillerman's stuntman is obviously spotted. (Noted by Mark S.)
